Going Places

Last Friday and Sunday, my car was full of stuff. Friday was the big push to get things out of my apartment; Sunday was my attempt at getting everything stored at other people’s houses.

And both days, I kept making comparisons on my arrival to Bloomington and my departure from it.

May 2008, I arrived at the Barretts’ home after a long day of travel with my car filled to the brim with my stuff. I’d just had a rough semester and was looking to find renewal and hope in Bloomington.

4 years later, I had a car (different than the one I arrived in) full of stuff. I would leave from the Barretts’ for Indy after a long day of loading and packing. The summer had its share of difficulties. I’m not looking for nursing school to be my hope nor is it my passage to “arrival” but it is a calling I am following.

Yet, in my car packed to the brim with “stuff,” I’m glad there was room for one incredibly appropriate item to be seen from the back passenger window:
