I realized that some new or random readers might benefit from a few introductions and explanations of the regularly featured names here on TRS.

TRS = Tall Ray of Sunshine – me, blogger, former music teacher, nursing student, 30-year-old female.

The Brain – my boss for about a year. He has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. I helped him and his wife in their home for about one year because caring for someone with a terminal illness takes a lot of work – extra laundry, extra hands to help with hygiene, and his wife finally gets to sleep when I arrive because she’s not worried that he will quit breathing, start choking, or need someone to scratch his nose. (Degenerative neuro-muscular diseases are horrible, if you didn’t already notice.)

Stewie – The Brain’s wife

The Frau – My friend, Megan, who is a Germanic languages expert. We’ve been told that we’re cosmic twins – and we are mutually honored to carry the title.

The Cantor – My friend, Richard, who is husband to Megan and can be found here. He’s also the choir director at the church I attended when in Bloomington. I used to be one of his singers who doesn’t practice enough, and therefore isn’t as good as her prior training and intelligence would make one assume. In addition to friends, we’re also colleagues with the St. John of Damascus Society.

Mr. Awesome – No one in particular. Rather than “Mr. Right”, I’d like to refer to the man I will eventually marry as “Mr. Awesome.” Let’s face it, he’s not going to be perfect. He might not even be right. But there will be qualities in him that I think will be awesome, and I hope he thinks of me as the same.

You will also read my various code names for guys I’ve been in a relationship with or have gone on dates with. I do this to A: attempt humor and B: help me keep them straight when referring to multiple guys in a single post. Names in the past have been: The Engineer, Opera Boy, Farmer Boy, Canadian Bacon, Comic Poet, etc.
